As part of our ongoing commitment to keeping all our pupils as safe as possible, Childwall Abbey School had a “lockdown” alarm installed over the summer holiday. On Monday we will be letting all our pupils hear this sound (a calm voice giving instructions), when we are gathered together for assembly. The purpose of the alarm and “What happens next?” will be explained in a calm and non-threatening manner. This session will be followed up by opportunities to talk to form staff. A planned practice of the expected routine will take place within the following week.
We are informing you in advance so that you will be ready to talk to your child should they come home with any questions.
It is a fact of life, that we all have to be prepared and able to behave appropriately in the highly unlikely event of an emergency. Our pupils always respond well to fire drills and I am sure they will do the same in this instance.
Many thanks for your support in this matter.
