Aigburth High Comic Relief Red Nose Day

What a Day!

What a fantastic day we had on Friday 13th March- Red Nose Day! Everyone came in their “own clothes”, lots of lovely red tops, socks, ties, scarves, dresses, etc could be seen in all the classes. Staff made a real effort too, with red noses, “deely boppers” and other high fashion items on show.

Comic Relief, registered charity 326568 (England/Wales) SCO39730 (Scotland)

Throughout the morning, Mr Turley and Mr Watkins had organised a mega dodgeball tournament, which caused lots of excitement.

Mrs Jukes and her team, including Liam (Y9), took over the Food Tech. room and kept staff and pupils supplied with sausage or bacon rolls for sale. Sixth form had baked and decorated red nose and “Minion” cakes and biscuits which went on sale at break and quickly disappeared!

Mrs Milne, helped by Lee (Y8) and Lewis (Y12), sold raffle tickets for a selection of Red Nose treats. Mrs Williams had also challenged our pupils to enter a competition to design a new Red Nose- there were lots of entries, all showing real imagination and a sense of fun.

Mrs Dillon’s class took part in a “sponsored silence” which they completed successfully, much to the amazement of all!

Pupils from years 9, 10, 11, 6th Form and staff participated in a Dancathon. They danced for a total of 2 hours and 39 minutes!!
After lunch, the whole school community gathered together for an awards ceremony, the raffle draw and to celebrate our achievement in raising just over £250!!! With the government promising to match that sum, this means Aigburth High pupils and staff will have raised over £500 for all the great causes supported by Comic Relief.
Well Done to everyone and thank you to all our parents and carers for supporting us so generously!
