Sixth-form Gardening Group Report

We moved to our new site in Childwall in April 2016. Since September ’15 we had been planning ahead for ideas and thoughts to do when we moved.

In May, after the move we could now put into practice some of our ideas.

We have done the following things this term –

  • Looked at the whole school site and taken some pictures of the land.
  • Done some weeding and planted two of the raised beds.
  • Discussed with staff and pupils what they would like in their work area.
  • Talked to the Headteacher, Mrs Piercy, about our plans.

When we asked Mrs Williams what she would like, she suggested lavender and other aromatic herbs in the raised beds near her room. Mrs Piercy said she would like us to grow strawberries in one of the raised beds. She also asked us to plant two large pots at the front of the school which involved visiting a garden centre, choosing plants and then putting them in the pots.

We contacted local businesses to tell them about our plans for gardening at C.A.S. and we thank our local Morrisons very much, for their kind donation of vouchers for our gardening project.

Here are some pictures of our gardening group’s work up to now. We will keep you updated on new developments next year.
