What a wonderful evening of celebrations we had at Childwall Abbey School on Friday 17th June. The school hall was decorated in magnificent style and filled with happy Sixth-form students and their proud parents and carers. Our guests of honour for the evening were Mr Paul Riding, North West England Regional Director for the Duke of Edinburgh Award and our Chair of Governors, Mr Bob Davies.
Live music, kindly and ably provided by Mr Milne, serenaded our guests as they walked the red carpet on arrival at school. The tables and chairs were decked out in a purple and white theme and every table was decorated with purple, silver and gold balloons.
During the evening, all our students were invited to come forward to be presented with their Bronze, Silver and Gold Sectional Awards by the Sixth-form staff and Mr Morrow. Mr Riding also presented Mrs Piercy with a school license with our new name on it, which will take pride of place in our main entrance area.
Both Mr Davies and Mr Riding spoke warmly about the great efforts, which the students have put into attaining their awards and encouraged them to continue to build on their achievements in the future.
Everyone then enjoyed drinks and a delicious buffet, which gave us the opportunity to socialise and congratulate all our Award winners.
Many thanks go to all the members of staff who put so much hard work into preparing the hall, photo displays and refreshments so that we could share such a happy occasion together.
