A first for Aigburth High

On Friday 20th March, our school had the great pleasure of hosting our first ever Duke of Edinburgh Award Presentation Ceremony. Our Sixth-form, under the expert guidance of Mr Morrow, supervised by Mrs Shaw, achieved an array of Bronze and Silver Certificates.
Mrs Piercy was delighted to welcome so many parents, carers, staff and other friends and family to our school hall, which had been set out and decorated beautifully by an enthusiastic team of our hard-working staff. (We thank Ms Dorian especially for her expert advice!) Mrs Piercy praised the outstanding example set for the whole school, by the Sixth-form and their staff.
We all enjoyed the lovely music provided by Mr Milne and clapped along as the Sixth-form danced and sang with pride.
The awards were presented by our Chair of Governors, Mr Bob Davies, assisted by Mr Williams, Mrs Cusack, Ms McLennan Mr Jones and Mr Morrow. In a thoughtful speech, Mr Davies commended the hard work of pupils and staff and the pride felt by the whole school community when honouring their achievements. The goals set by the Award, closely match the aspirations set out in our Mission statement, “A place where we support each other to achieve”.
The rest of the evening was spent taking lots of happy photographs and enjoying the delicious refreshments- thank-you Mrs Milne, Mrs Deegan and Mrs Petches-Kelly (and Mrs Wilson for the lollipop trees!)
We look forward to next year’s celebration and expect this Award to go from strength to strength at Aigburth High.
